(Capt) Daniel L. Brooks

Our fourteenth recipient, (Captain) Daniel L. Brooks, graduated from Harvard Business School in 2017 with an MBA.  He served on active duty from 2006 to 2015, first as an Infantry Officer and then a Special Operations Officer.  As a lieutenant with 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, he deployed to Ramadi, Iraq in 2007, and then Haditha, Iraq in 2008-2009, conducting counter-insurgency operations on both deployments.  After attending the Assessment & Selection course for Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), Dan joined the 1st Marine Raider Battalion (1st MRB) in 2010.   While at 1st MRB, Dan deployed twice as a Team Commander to the Helmand River Valley of Afghanistan in 2011 and 2012, and then to Guam in 2014 as part of a Maritime Contingency Response Force.  Dan was awarded the Douglas A. Zembiec Award for Outstanding Leadership in Special Operations in 2011.  He graduated in the top 10 percentile of his class at The Basic School and was the honor graduate from his Marine Corps Combatant Dive School course.  Dan graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan, College of Engineering in 2004.  Dan is a Vice President at TA Associates in Boston, MA, where he resides with his wife, Cara, sons, Donny and Ryan, and daughter, Ada.
