MajGen Jason L. Morris

Our twenty-fifth recipient, Major General Jason L. Morris, completed the AMP at Harvard Business School in October 2018.  Jason was commissioned in May 1992 and is currently assigned as the Director of Operations at HQMC, Quantico, VA.  An infantry officer who has commanded Marines at all levels from 2nd Lieutenant to Colonel over the course of his 29 year career, he previously served as Commanding General of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Western Recruiting Region, San Diego, CA.  Jason also Commanded 3d Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment as a lieutenant colonel during its 2010-11 deployment to Sangin District in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and the 9th Marine Corps District as a colonel from 2014-17 where he was responsible for Marine Corps’ officer, enlisted and prior service recruiting across 13 Midwestern states.  Jason has also served as an instructor at The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course, deployed three times to the western Pacific and twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, commanded Marine Corps Recruiting Station Portland, OR, and served at the NCJ3 at the United States Northern Command in Colorado Springs, CO and served AC/S G3 Operations, I Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton, CA, and then as the Commanding General, Training Command, Quantico, VA.  He was the 2001 Marine Corps Leftwich Award recipient for superior operational performance while serving as the commanding officer, Company B, Battalion Landing Team 1/5,  31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.  Jason holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, a Masters in Military Studies from the USMC Command and Staff College, a Masters in Operational Studies from the USMC School of Advanced Warfighting, and a MA in National Security and Strategy Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.  He graduated with honors or distinction from The Basic School, the Amphibious Warfare School, the USMC Command and Staff College, the USMC School of Advanced Warfighting, and the U.S. Naval War College.

Jason and his wife, Jane Conwell, have two children.
