Our thirteenth recipient, Major General Ryan P. Heritage, completed the AMP at Harvard Business School in October 2015. Ryan currently serves as Director of Operations J3 United States Cyberspace Command. He previously served as the Commanding General for Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command/Marine Forces Space Command/Marine Corps Information Command, and before that served as the Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Western Recruiting Region; Deputy Director, Future Operations, USCYBER Command; and was previously a Branch Head within the Programs and Resources Department, Headquarters Marine Corps. Ryan also served as the Deputy Commander for Marine Forces Cyberspace Command at Fort Meade, MD. He has served in a variety of billets in and out of the operating forces including rifle Platoon Commander, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment; Company Commander and Operations Officer, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment; Operational Planner, United States Southern Command; Commanding Officer, Weapons Training Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune; Current Operations Officer for both II and III Marine Expeditionary Forces; Future Operations Planner and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, 2nd Marine Division; and Commanding Officer, 6th Marine Regiment. He has also been assigned to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA, and Marine Barracks, in Washington, D.C. Ryan received his undergraduate degree in International Relations from George Washington University. He is also a graduate of the Amphibious Warfare School; Marine Corps Command and Staff College where he earned a Masters in Military Studies; and the Army’s War College in Carlisle, PA, where he earned an additional Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies. Ryan has participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom and operations in the Former Yugoslavia and Haiti.
Ryan and his wife, Chris, have six children.
