ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER BUILDING PARTNERSHIP & HOPE IN LAREDO, TEXAS

Imagine waking up each day and going to work at an animal shelter where you know approximately half of the 250 animals in your care will be euthanized due to overcrowding.  With limited resources, rescue partners, and funding, there was not much hope for change; that is what the shelter Laredo Animal Care Services staff and animals faced each day.

About 18 months ago, Carrie Boynton, Executive Director of the Animal Adoption Center (AAC) in Jackson, WY, spoke with Sandy Day about the tragic situation in Laredo, TX.  Conversations were already taking place with Dog Is My Copilot (DIMC) and American Pets Alive, on possible ways to help alleviate the high numbers of euthanasia, and transport dogs and cats to areas where they would be adopted.

Lulu’s Fund happily volunteered to help with the funding of monthly spay and neuter clinics, while DIMC provides multiple animal transports, and the AAC assists in helping the Laredo dogs and cats find their forever homes.  A community of animal loving people and organizations have come together to make this happen including the dedicated shelter staff and veterinarian teams.

Please take the time to watch this 8-minute inspirational video that was presented at the Animal Adoption Center’s “New Leash On Life” gala in July 2021.  It will warm your heart… and you might want to have a tissue handy.
